Following a review of data from thirty published studies, researchers report that working in awkward postures, high workloads, exposure to vibratory forces, and repetitive movements are likely responsible for the high prevalence of musculoskeletal complaints (most commonly in the neck, lower back, shoulder, and upper back) among dental professionals.

The authors conclude, "[Suitable] interventions for preventing musculoskeletal diseases and pain among dental professionals are needed."
