Low Back Pain Often Affects
Mental Health of Police Officers

Among a group of 3,589 police officers, researchers observed that those with chronic back pain in Fanwood (about one in four officers in the study) were more likely to have poor emotional and mental health, often at levels comparable to individuals suffering from either cancer or heart disease. The findings suggest that police organizations should be aware of this issue and work toward reducing chronic low back pain in the workplace.
