Exercise May Be Key to Quitting Smoking

A new study suggests that exercise can help smokers kick the habit.

Using mice, investigators found that moderate-intensity exercise reduced the severity of nicotine withdrawal. They also found that exercise increased the activation of a receptor in the brain usually targeted by nicotine.

The study results suggest that exercise should be part of an effective smoking cessation program.

To read the full study you can visit the British Journal of Pharmacology, December 2017.
