Fanwood Chiropractor Explains How Fish Oil May Slow Spread & Growth of Breast Cancer Cells

Past research has associated omega-3 fatty acid intake with a number of positive health outcomes.

A new study suggests omega-3 fatty acids may also suppress the growth and spread of breast cancer cells in mice.

In the study, researchers observed that consuming an omega-3 fatty acid-rich diet stopped further tumors from developing and blocked cancer cells from spreading in mice that had been injected with breast cancer cells.

The research team speculates that these findings are due to how omega-3 fatty acids support the body's immune and anti-inflammatory systems.

Lead author Dr. Saraswoti Khadge notes, "Our study emphasizes the potential therapeutic role of dietary long-chain omega-3 fatty acids in the control of tumor growth and metastasis."
