An analysis of data concerning 11,222 middle-aged joint pain patients in the United Kingdom found that one in six also suffer from clinical anxiety.

Furthermore, the researchers observed that patients with severe joint pain have up to a five-times increased risk for anxiety when compared to patients with mild joint pain.

Additionally, the research team notes that patients with joint pain in four or more body sites are three times more likely to have anxiety than those whose joint pain is isolated to just one region of the body.
