Chiropractor Fanwood Discusses Mediterranean Diet Benefits for Women

Mediterranean Diet May Increase Muscle Mass and Bone Density for Older Women

The Mediterranean diet focuses on fruits and vegetables, grains, olive oil, fish, lean meats, and nuts/seeds.

In a new study, investigators followed 103 healthy postmenopausal women and found that those who more closely followed the Mediterranean diet had higher bone mineral density in the lumbar spine, along with greater muscle mass in the surrounding area.

The findings suggest that the Mediterranean diet could be a useful non-medical strategy to aid in the prevention of osteoporosis and fractures among postmenopausal women.
